COF goes to Mulago Hospital, Uganda!

This month, an inspirational group of pediatricians from New York is traveling to Uganda to work at the Mulago Hospital and a teen center in Kampala. One of their projects is delivering health education to children and teens. Many Ugandan children are victims of war, AIDS and poverty. A large part are often very sick due to the lack of basic personal hygiene. Many residents aren't aware of the importance of simple hand-washing.
These volunteer pediatricians have developed a curriculum to teach the children the importance of hygiene in order to maintain good health. The doctors will be distributing starter kits with an assortment of products to help the children practice the methods learned in the workshops. Achieving this, should lead to a significant reduction in sanitation-related diseases and an improvement in all around community health.
COF was honored to donate 800 pieces of shampoo, lotion and soap to this meaningful project. And we admire the doctors for carrying all of it in their luggage to ensure it would not get lost in transit! This team of pediatricians not only has big hearts, but also strong backs!
We tip our hats to these volunteer pediatricians from the Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital of New York-Presbyterian for taking time to help the next generation of Ugandans maintain good personal health and a better living environment. Stay tuned for a trip recap and photos in Circle of Friends' March Bubble Bulletin!
