Swimming!

Hi my name is Andrew and I love swimming! Australia is surrounded by water, so water activities are not only popular, but also a huge part of our culture. I learned how to swim when i was 3, and it's now my favortie summertime activity! my mom says I'm just like a fish!

During the summer my friends and I like to play games in the pool. My favorite game is called Marco Polo. One person closes their eyes and tries to search for the others by listening to their voices and movement. To help in their search, he yells out "Marco", and the others have to respond "Polo".

Now that I'm a strong swimmer, my dad said that he would take me snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef next summer! The great Barrier Reef is actually more than 2,800 coral reefs together and are home to more than 30 species of whales and dolphins, 200 species of sharks and stingrays and more than 1,500 species of fish!! The reef is kind of like an underwater rainforest, housing so many living things, some of them unique to only Australia! I can't wait to see what I find down there!

Since Australia is below the equator, we are in the middle of winter! However starting in December, I'll be back in the pool and getting ready for my trip to the Great Barrier Reef!!
