Baseball!

Spring is here! And so begins a new season of America's favorite pastime - baseball! Being such a fan, the "official" start of spring for me is Opening Day!! My dad, my best friend Sean and I love going to the 1st game of the season. Sean and I get to eat hot dogs and drink lots of root beer! We like to get there early and watch the players take batting practice.
The origin of baseball is unclear, but history buffs say it evolved from several European bat-and-ball games. Although Baseball was born in the U.S., it shares many similarities to the English Criket and Rounders. My dad tells me the first baseball game was organized by Daniel 'Doc' Adams, also known as "the Father of Baseball" in 1845, when the New York Knickerbockers played the New York Nine. Baseball was among one of the earliest games to be played professionally in the United States. It was recognized as "America's National Pastime" since 1856!! That's a long time ago!!

Although Baseball is native to the United States, it has spread throughout the world and has gained much popularity in Central & South America, the Caribbean and even as far as East Asia! Many of our teams are made up of such a variety of players from all parts of the globe! When I grow up, I want to travel to different countries and play baseball! Maybe I'll meet a kid likeme who collects MY baseball card!!
