Tommy's favorite pastime is the same as many Americans (and those from South America and the Caribbean too) - baseball! It is said that the first baseball game ever played was in Hoboken, New Jersey, the state where Tommy lives. That game took place in 1846 and was between the New York Knickerbokers and the New York Base Ball Club. Since those days, baseball has been played by folks of all ages.

Not only did baseball have its start in New Jersey, but so did one of Tommy's other favorite things: root beer. Although root beer has been traced as far as the Colonial era, a man named Charles Hires brought this drink to the masses in 1876. While on his honeymoon in New Jersey, this Pennsylvania Pharmacist tasted a herb tea he knew he needed to bring back home. He made this into a great root beer and the country loved it!
